Part Two

In 1994, Wet Wet Wet became one of the biggest, most successful bands in the world! They did a month long European tour at the start of the year. It was known as the "Cheese and Ham Toastie European Tour" which meant it was a back to basics tour. It was a huge success!

They had to decide which cover they would perform for that low budget movie, Four weddings And A Funeral. The choices were - I Will Survive, Can't Smile Without You and Love Is All Around. Apparently, all of the band members except for Marti went for Love Is All Around! It was recorded at the Brill Building in Glasgow with, "a crate of lager, never leave home without one, a pack of smokes and a sense of humour" according to Marti! The band really didn't expect great things from this song and in fact, they wanted it to be a b-side to I Can Give You Everything. The record company had different ideas. Love Is All Around was released on 9th May. It went to number 1 and stayed there for 15 weeks. It reached the top of the charts in 14 countries. End of Part One also went to number 1 in 7 countries including Britain.

The Summer Of Love Is All Around Tour took place during June and July.

After 15 weeks at the top, the Wets were tired of Love Is All Around and had it taken out of production. It was finally knocked off the number one slot by an unknown Scandinavian. Suddenly, Wet Wet Wet took on a new priority for Phonogram. Finally, they could see their potential!

On 8th October, Wet Wet Wet performed It's Now Or Never at the Elvis Presley Tribute show in Memphis. Wets were the only British band to take part and they got a standing ovation!
